About the PDF
Mundaka Upanishad is a part of the Atharva Veda and a very renowned Upanishad. This spiritual text has opened up a new avenue of self-realization i.e. the realization between the individual soul and the universal soul whereas the individual soul is Atman and the universal soul is Brahman. Mundaka Upanishad is derived from the Sanskrit word ‘मुण्डक’ that means ‘shaved’. It is mainly divided into three parts and each part has two khandas.
First Mundaka
- First Khanda: Lower and Higher Knowledge
Lower knowledge refers to (Apara Vidya and higher knowledge refers to Para Vidya. - Second Khanda: Creation of the Universe
It is believed that Brahman is the origin of all creations and is the ultimate reality.
Second Mundaka
- First Khanda: The Imperishable Brahman
Brahman is imperishable as it never fades away. Through Bramhman, you can overcome the curse of ignorance and fetch the blessings of enlightenment in your life. - Second Khanda: The Path to Self-Realization
You cannot attain Brahman only through devotion, perseverance, and meditation. For this, you have to use concentration and wisdom simultaneously.
Third Mundaka
- First Khanda: The Realization of Brahman
If you realize the Brahman, you will acquire the perpetual happiness. - Second Khanda: The Liberation of the Soul
‘Moksha’ or liberation of the soul helps you transcend the cycle of birth and death.
