About the PDF
UPS will be effective from 1st April 2025. This beneficial scheme will benefit 23 lakh central government employees. The honorable prime minister posted a tweet appreciating the tireless efforts of the central government employees and said that the UPS scheme will ensure their financial security.
Salient features of UPS
- UPS is an assured pension scheme based on the last drawn basic pay and duration of the service.
- The employees who complete at least 10 years of service will get a minimum ₹10,000 per month as a pension.
- The spouse will get 60% of the pension as a family pension.
- Dearness relief DR will also be applied to the assured pension.
- At the time of retirement, a lumpsum amount will be imparted.
- Employee has the choice, of whether they choose UPS or remain in NPS.
- The Contribution of the employee will remain the same @10% of the basic and DA, the government has increased from 14% to 18.5%.
- The 10% and 8.5% of the government contribution will be accumulated separately.
- Not only the central government employees but also employees of Central Autonomous Bodies and State Governments and State Autonomous Bodies will be extremely benefited from this scheme.
- Eventually, the Unified Pension Scheme will safeguard the financial well-being of central government employees.
- The minimum qualifying service of 25 years is necessary for the full assured pension.
